Kahoka is a city in and the county seat of Clark County, in the northeast tip of Missouri, United States. As of the 2020 census, its population was 1,961. == History == Kahoka was platted in 1858. The city is named for the historic Cahokia tribe of the Illiniwek or Illinois Confederacy, which occupied territory on both sides of the Mississippi River in this area at the time of European encounter. The Clark County Courthouse, Col. Hiram M. Hiller House, and Montgomery Opera House are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. == Geography == Kahoka is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 136 and Missouri Route 81. Wayland is approximately seven miles to the east and Luray is 8.5 miles to the west. The Fox River flows past about one mile to the northeast. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.60 square miles (4.14 km2), of which 1.57 square miles (4.07 km2) is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) is water.
